Frontier Computing

Frontier grows scalable biological brains as an ML training substrate

About Frontier Computing

Frontier is first to grow biological brains at scale, serving biological neural nets with substrate-level colocation of memory and compute, enabling highly cost effective training of large parameter count models. While academia has traditionally been limited to ~1M neurons in vitro, Frontier has built a pathway to scale to 100M+ neurons by circumventing traditional scaling challenges in biological culture, demonstrating this strategy's functionality by training a biological brain using this scaling primitive to play Frogger. Frontier is now growing exascale compute clusters to produce substrates capable of long-horizon language reasoning while operating at much higher sample efficiencies than traditional architectures, and collocating memory with compute to enable significantly larger parameter counts than would be tractable for training within traditional compute clusters.

so a very long time ago, i wrote an obsidian note for this on EM dashes, as a little pet theory on why models seem to like them so much.

Met Kiran back at Alexey’s event for New Science fellows in Nov of last year, insane to see how much progress these guys have made in taking down Rain Maker, and remembering how back then I was just beginning the buildout of my neurotech co in stealth at the time

uk subcos rise up, agree this is awful for america, immigration is this hot button issue people get overly frazzled on, particularly for skilled immigration that obviously generates value and matters for not losing hegemony.
