Lamina Labs is building infrastructure for near-real-time structured video generation. Most AI video is built for cinematic clips. Lamina is built for useful videos that teach and explain. Our first product, Simi, turns prompts, documents, and AI answers into whiteboard-style teaching videos in seconds. Our goal is to make video the default interface for AI communication.

We raised $4.8 million to make AI explain with video, not just text. Today, we are announcing Lamina Labs and Simi, our first product and the fastest way to make an explainer video. Give Simi a single prompt, document, or script, and it can generate a complete one-minute narrated explainer in as little as eight seconds, in more than 80 languages. It works like ChatGPT, except the answer is a video. This announcement means a lot to us for reasons that go beyond the funding. Kartikesh and I grew up in two of the most remote parts of Nepal.
